In partnership with NHSx and the Novartis Foundation, the world's first large-scale summit focused specifically on AI in healthcare returns to Basel on the 11-12th September 2019. The event is produced by Inspired Minds, the team behind World Summit AI Amsterdam, where the global AI agenda is set annually.
Intelligent Health will gather 2,000 people and 100 of the brightest brains in healthcare and tech to progress discussion about how AI can be used to prevent and solve some of the world's greatest healthcare problems and improve the health of humans.
Patrice Matchaba, Group Head of Global Health and Corporate Responsibility at Novartis said “At Novartis we want to reimagine the practice of health care around the world. Discovering transformative medicines that improve and extend lives is just one part. Sustainable access to these medicines to more people who need them around the world is now our greatest challenge. We believe that the global access of mobile phones, rapid development of machine learning and AI is the greatest opportunity we have to help us address these global health challenges. That’s why we partnered with Inspired Minds to organize the first AI and Intelligent Health Congress in Basel, Switzerland. And what an inspirational event and success it was. Its only by bringing these very diverse, talented and purpose driven people, that new partnerships and ecosystems will develop partnerships that will bring us closer to the goal of Universal Health Care”.
Intelligent Health recently announced NHSx as a new strategic partnership to push the AI for good agenda. NHSx is leading the largest digital health and social care transformation programme in the world. With investment of more than £1 billion pounds a year nationally and a significant additional spend locally, NHSx has been created to give staff and citizens the technology they need. It brings teams from the Department of Health and Social Care, NHS England and NHS Improvement together into one unit to drive digital transformation and lead policy, implementation and change.
NHSx leaders will come to Basel and share with us their plans for delivering the Health Secretary’s Tech Vision and building on the NHS Long Term Plan including :
• Reducing the burden on clinicians and staff, so they can focus on patients;
• Giving people the tools to access information and services directly;
• Ensuring clinical information can be safely accessed, wherever it is needed;
• Improving patient safety across the NHS; and
• Improving NHS productivity with digital technology.
This partnership will strive to create a future where AI revolutionizes health and provides the health AI ecosystem with the chance to be part of the discussion that aims to solve some of the world’s greatest healthcare problem. Intelligent Health 2019 continues to be in line with Inspired Minds funded charity, Ada-AI, a non-profit organisation working to ensure AI is developed and adopted in ways that are inclusive and equitable. Ada-AI’s first project is to build a STEM school in Afghanistan, in conjunction with Sarah Porter and Afghanistan’s first female CEO, Roya Mahboob, for children who would otherwise not access education. The Ada-AI board is made up of 25 of the most influential people in AI globally (from the World Economic Forum to NASA and New York University), who are working to foster greater participation and representation in AI so that it benefits all of humanity, rather than just the privileged few.
